Love-Hate relationships between Nepal and India are “age-old”. Both Country has been establishing respect among each other but way of hatred among each other also has occurred between each other. Here, are some of the main reason because of which Nepalese people hates Indian people or Indian government policy.
India’s foreign policy:
India has been fueling the ethnic tension in Nepal in political aspects. India has been interfering in every political activities and governmental policy with fueling tensions among the leaders of Nepal. Activities like supporting madhesi parties in nation division and change in constitution are the activities done under Indian governmental bodies and agendas. Likewise illegal participation in national election with illegal Nepalese citizenship is also negative aspect from Indian government towards Nepal.
Indian blockage of Nepal:
Being a small country between two large nation, Nepal has been depending upon India for accessing resources and any other supports and materials. Being a landlocked country Nepal gets helpless whenever blockage is done by India towards Nepal due to the dissatisfaction of Indian government on decision made by Nepalese people. During the time of disastrous earthquake on 2073 B.S., Nepal suffered a massive blockage from Nepal that created huge chaos and sufferings among Nepalese people.
Bad expression towards Nepalese people:
Some people go to India for reasons like working on there or for doing abroad study. But activities like racism, discrimination and humiliation towards Nepalese people can offend Nepalese. Indian jokes particularly highlighting Nepalese people are often spoken on Indian television program and expressing such humiliation among other nation or within each other about Nepalese people.
Illegal occupying of Nepalese land and border:
Because of the open border system between Nepal and India, India has been occupying Nepalese border and territories in illegal way. According to Nepalese parliamentary committee for international Relations and Human Rights, India has been occupying some 62 thousand hectares of Nepali Land since 1962 in kalapani. Likewise India has occupied 14 thousand hectares if Nepali Lands in Nawalparasi district. Illegal occupying of Nepalese land has been done in silent and dominating way.
Indian media:
According to the survey Indian media has been categorized as one of the most hated media on the world. Spreading false rumors and news, as well as creating fake news makes them one of the worst medias in the world. In the same way Indian media has been making false rumors about Nepal in dominating and harsh way. Some popular trends and news like Gautam Buddha being born in India was created and covered by Indian media that directly offended Nepalese people.
