Metal is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s in the United Kingdom and the United States. And then many metal bands are formed and categorized into different sub-genre like trash metal, death metal, black metal, groove metal and so on. Here we a list of top five metal bands of all time.
Led Zeppelin
Led Zeppelin is an English rock and heavy metal band of all time formed in 1968 in London. The band was formed with four members (Jimmy Page on guitar, Roberto Plant on vocal, John Paul Jones on bass and keyword and John Banham on the drum). The band released its first album “Led Zeppelin” in 1969. The Rolling Stone magazine described this band as “the heaviest band of all time”, “the biggest band of the Seventies”, and “unquestionably one of the most enduring bands in rock history”. The song titled “Stairway to Heaven” is the most popular song and best song of all time of this band.
Black Sabbath
Black Sabbath is an English Heavy metal band formed in 1968 by guitarist and songwriter Tony Iommi, Bassist Geezer Butler, Singer Ozzy Osbourne and drummer Bill Ward. Black Sabbath first recorded album was Dehumanizer and it gave its hit albums like Black Sabbath (1970) and Paranoid (1970). The MTV ranked this band as “Greatest Metal Band” of all time and inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005 and 2006. They are two times Grammy award winner for performing the best metal performance.
Iron Maiden:
Iron Maiden is the most successful Heavy Metal English band formed in Leyton, East London, in 1975 by bassist and songwriter Steve Harris. The band achieved its initial success in the early 1980s and then they recorded the albums “The Number of Beast”, “Peace of Mind” and “Powerslave” which helped the band to raise in height. Iron Median’s albums were sold over 90 million copies world widely. The band won “Ivor Novello Award” for international achievement in 2002. Iron Median has performed over 2000 lives shows throughout the world.
Metallica
Metallica is an American Heavy and Thrash Metal band based in San Rafael, California and formed in 1981 in Los Angeles. Initially, the band was formed by two member vocalist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich and later on bassist Ron Mc Govney and Cliff Burton and lead guitarist Kirk Hammett were mentioned. The band third album “Master of Puppets (1986)” is described as one of the most influential and heaviest of thrash metal albums. Metallica is a one of the most successful band in history which won eight Grammy Award, have sold over 110 million records worldwide and ranked as the most commercially successful band of all time.
Queen
Queen is a British Rock Metal band formed in 1970 by four member (Freddie Mercury on vocal and piano, Brain May on lead guitar, Roger Taylor on drums and John Deacon on bass). Initially the band was influenced by progressive rock and hard rock and later on, they started to perform rock metal. The song “We Will Rock You” and “We are the Champions” are the most popular song by a band which is released in 1997 and included in album “News of World” and later on have become anthems at sports events. The band was awarded for outstanding contribution to British music in 1990 and inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001. They are also best-selling music artists of all time.
