Nepal has got great vocalist (singer) from ancient times. Here are some of the top legendary singer of Nepal:

Narayan Gopal was born in 4th October, 1939 in Kathmandu, Nepal. His voice carries a lot of pain and emotions due to which he is known as “Tragedy King” singer and he was referred by the title “Swar Samrat” which means the Emperor of voice. He is one the most popular professional singer from the first generation of Nepali music industry. Though he left us at his age of 51, his voice and creation will always be with us in our memories. Some of his popular songs are Gajalu Ti Thula Thula Aankha, Kehi Mitho Baat Gara, Birta ko China, etc.

Tara Devi was born in Kathmandu, Nepal in 15th January, 1945. She began her journey in singing at the age of 5 when she got chance to sing in Radio Nepal. Her soulful voice mainly revoked her love and patriotism due to which she was known as nightingale of Nepal. She has recorded more than 4000 songs in her career. She died at her age of 61 leaving her soulful creation. Some of her popular songs are Soche Jasto Hunna Jeevan, Ukali Orali Haruma, Phool ko Thunga, Eh Kancha, etc.

Arun Thapa was born in January 1952 in Kathmandu district. He started his journey writing songs when he fell in love with a girl. His voice and lyrics mainly reflects his love and affection towards his beloved. He sang his first song in 1971 A.D. in Radio Nepal. Though he left us at the age of 47, he is still with us in his creations. Some of his popular songs are Ritu Haruma Timi, Jati Maya Laye Pani, Sajhko Jun Sangai, etc.

Gopal Yonzon is known as the patriotic singer in Nepalese Music History who was born in Darjeeling which was once part of Nepal. He was born in 26th August, 1943 A.D. Gopal Yonzan is also one of the professional singer of the first generation of Nepalese Music. He died in 1997 A.D. in Delhi, India. Some of his best songs collection are Mero Pauma, Baneko Cha Paharale, Pashim Kohi Purba, etc.

Aruna Lama:

Aruna Lama is one of the popular singer of Nepal who is commonly known as “Nightingale of the Hills”. She was born in Darjeeling which was a part of Nepal in 1945 A.D. She has composed more than 100 songs before her demise in 1998 A.D. Some of her popular songs are Eklai Basdai, Ma Timrai Hoon, Himal Sari, etc.
