Jeff Bezos is the founder, chairman and chief executive officer of amazon.com. He was born on January 12, 1964 at Albuquerque, New Mexico. His father was Ted Jorgensen and his mother is Jackie Gise Bezos. He was adopted by his stepfather Miguel Bezos at a very young age. He took his stepfather’s surname after adoption. Professionally, he is an engineer, retail entrepreneur and investor. Currently, he is the world’s second richest person with a net worth of 75.6 billion dollars.

When he was young, he set up an electric fire system to keep away his siblings from entering his room.
He joined the Student Science Training Program at University of Florida and received Silver Knight Award in 1982 when he was still at high school.
He was the president of Students for the Exploration and Development of Space.
In 1994, left his well-paying job at D. E. Shaw & Co. in order to develop Amazon.com.
Interestingly, he wrote the business plan for amazon on his way to Seattle from New York.

Some of the various non-profit work done by Bezos Expedition include donating $42million for the prototype of the 1000 year old clock, privately funding Apollo 11 F-1 Engine Recovery project that recovered two rocket engines from Atlantic seafloor among others.

Amazon’s share price fell from $100 to as low as $6 after the dotcom crash in early 2000s. His determination and optimism is the reason amazon survived and later thrived.
According to amazon’s company policy, each employee has to spend 2 days after 2 years at customer service desk and this policy applies to Jeff also.
The first item to be sold on amazon.com is the book “Fluid Concepts & Creative Analogies: Computer Models of the Fundamental Mechanisms of Thought”.

Bezos is also the owner of The Washington Post newspaper.
In November 2015, Blue Origin successfully lands a rocket on Earth after a spaceflight.
