Jimi Hendrix was born in November 27, 1942 in Seattle, Washington. He is an American rock guitarist, singer and songwriter. His mainstream musical career lasted just 4 years. He was left handed and due to this, he played his guitar upside down.
His death was caused due to him choking on his own vomit after he had taken 9 pills of barbiturate vesparax at the young age of 27.
He didn’t have formal training of music. He taught himself to play guitar. He couldn’t read music and communicated through colors. “Some feelings make you think of different colors, jealousy is purple; I’m purple with rage or purple with anger, and green with envy…”
He once said that his fingers and guitar were one.
Jimi’s father Al controlled his estate after his death. He even ran a museum dedicated to Jimi at his house in Seattle, Washington. The estate now belongs to Al’s daughter Janie.
The cover of Electric Ladyland, the third studio album of the Jimi Hendrix Experience band shows 19 naked women from English pubs. Jimi didn’t like the cover because he felt it took the attention away from his music. The US cover of the album was replaced with psychedelic artwork.
