Nepalese musical band denotes rock music culture of Nepal and Nepali-speaking regions. Nepalese are equally talented in Nepal as compared to other international artists. As we know, Nepal is a small country and due to this Nepali artists are not as popular as compared to international artists. Still, there are lots of musical bands in Nepal who has made the history. Some of the excellent bands are listed in top 5 categories and they can be listed as follows:
Kutumba:
Kutumba is one of the reputed and most loved instrumental folk Nepalese band. They only use Nepalese traditional musical instrument such as Dhol, Jhyamta, flute, Sarangi, Madal etc. This band was active since 2004 and band are continuously working out till now. The word Kutumba holds a special meaning in the Nepalese language which means a group an unusual sound and vision. There are total six members in the band which has different roots and backgrounds in music.
Nepathya:
Nepathya is also one of the famous and best musical band in Nepal who has won the heart of every music lovers. Nepathya is best for its folk and rock tune which has been loved by most of the youths. Nepathya was formed in 90’s by the students from Pokhara while they were studying at Kathmandu. Amrit Gurung is the vocalist of the band and has played a major role in taking the band to its best. Nepathya is one of the first band of Nepal to perform at Wembley Arena, the UK on August 3, 2013.

1974 AD is one of the most popular Nepali band in the history of Nepal formed in the early 90s. They are the most successful recording artist in Nepal. 1974 are successful in many genres such as jazz, metal, folk, hard rock, blues, rock and roll, funk, etc. Most of their albums are listed in top 10 most sales albums. There is no other band which can compete this band in the name of popularity. Even when they organized a concert named “Rock Yatra” in 2000 which was watched by more than 60,000 people and is considered as largest attendance for a concert in Nepal.
Cobweb:
Cobweb is also known as one of the most popular bands in Nepalese Music Industry. They are very well known for the pop and rock music. The band was formed in 1992 by Mahesh and Dibesh. They released their first album in 1993 and named it as ‘Anjaan’. The songs on this album consist of heavy metals and hard rock. They came with next album called “Cobweb” in 1996 which was a very big in whole Nepal. They are mostly popular by songs like “Mercedes Benz”, “Maryo ni Maryo ni”, “Preet ko Nasha”, etc. They have performed in various places inside and outside of the country.
The Axe:
In 1992 this band started as a garage band and was officially established in 1993. They gave their first album “Dhunwa”. Their two songs from their second album “chiya barima” and “Pallo dada ma” went smash hit. This band was started at 1992 and was officially established in 1993.
