Here are top five most dangerous highways of Nepal.
Dhading-Baitadi Route:
Dhading Baitadi route lies on dhading district which itself is rich in high cliffs and rocky mountains. Vehicles need to pass nearly 14 hours straight in order to complete the route which itself is a dangerous factor for passengers to travel on this highway. On July 2013, a bus carrying 22 people fell off the cliff resulting no people to be alive.
Tanahu Route:
Tanahu route lies on tanahun district of nepal. The highway is normal on lower region whereas upper region of tanahun is stiff in nature. The road is full of drifted turnings and high cliffs. Moreover due to lack of government’s active presence on these areas, roads are in poor condition. In 2013 July 6, a bus carrying 11 passengers fell off from Madi bridge in Tanahun district resulting huge loss of lives.
Bhim Datta Highway:
Bhim data highway is situated in Mahendranagar region in far western development region. The region is far from government’s attention and road condition is too poor in these regions. Nearly 145 accidents with 136 deaths has already occurred in these regions with 33 people killed in January 12, 2013. Moreover during the time of winter the road gets skidded in ice that results in high probable of accident to occur on these areas.
BP Highway:
BP highway is connected with two areas that is dharan and dhankuta. The highway is still under construction by government and delayed for years that create most of the accident. Likewise as the highway gets busy all the time because of trade between different regions, vehicles do travel all the time that makes high probable of occurring accident here.
Palpa-Tansen Route:
Palpa tansen highway or route lies on the border cliffs of Palpa and Tansen district. The road is too stiff and tilts in nature. Likewise two way passing between vehicles is too difficult in these region because the road is too narrow.
